What does my RACQ Home and Contents Insurance cover?

Loss or damage in a flood, storm, hail, theft, accident, vandalism, or fire event
Up to $20 million in legal liability if an accident occurs at your insured address
New for old replacement on your home contents
Lifetime repair guarantee on repairs completed by RACQ's network of suppliers

Temporary accommodation
If your home is unlivable after an insured event, we will pay for temporary accommodation for up to 14 days and ongoing accommodation costs for up to 12 months if your home needs to be rebuilt or repaired, for a total amount up to 10% of your home sum insured.
Clean-up costs
We pay the cost of cleaning up the mess or damage caused by a thief, vandal, or forensic police investigation.
Locks
We pay up to $1,000 per claim to re-key, recode or replace locks on external doors at your home if keys are stolen and theft is reported to police. This benefit has no excess.
Food spoilage
We pay up to $1,000 per claim for spoiled frozen and refrigerated food and medicines at your home if caused by an insured event, refrigerant fumes escaping, fridge or freezer break down or a public electricity failure. No excess is payable.
Demolition and removal of debris
On top of the home sum insured, we will pay an additional amount up to 20% of the home sum insured to demolish your home and remove any debris.

Advanced cover
Get cover for accidental damage to things like your television or works of art, and cover for motor burnout on things like your fridge.
Pet cover
Get up to $750 cover for up to two pets (dogs or cats only), for veterinary costs associated with accidental injury, disease or illness. Elective, routine, and preventative care are not covered. If you're interested in more comprehensive cover, read more about RACQ’s Pet Insurance here.
Mobile phone cover
Get cover for your mobile phone if it is accidentally lost or damaged anywhere in Australia or New Zealand up to the insured amount you nominate less a $200 excess.
