It’s an exciting time to start your RACQ career

RACQ isn’t simply an organisation – it’s a promise to make a difference to the lives of our members now and into the future. While RACQ has evolved over the 115 years we’ve been serving Queenslanders, we still honour that promise with solutions that deliver security and prosperity.

In our workplace, flexible working is championed, colleagues become friends, and employees are recognised for their contributions while still being encouraged to develop and grow.

With 1.7 million members, we’re big enough to make a real difference in our community, yet we’re small enough to nurture your professional and personal development.

RACQ careers are never one-sided. If you’re passionate about making a difference, we want to take that journey with you.

Recruitment Process

We work hard to select creative, innovative people who have passion and potential. To help you prepare for making a great impression, we’ve outlined the typical steps in the RACQ recruitment process.

By submitting your application, you’re agreeing to take part in the process described on this page. We'll retain your information under the terms of the Privacy Statement.

  • icon-step-1
    You submit an online application

You’ve found a role that is an ideal match for your skills, experience, qualifications, and career aspirations, so it’s time to submit your application online. Due to the volume of applications we receive it may take us a few weeks to get back to you with an outcome, but we commit to respond to every applicant.

Tip: Make sure you have a good understanding of the role you’re applying for before you fill in your application form, and tailor your application accordingly.

  • icon-step-2
    Pre-interview questions

If your application matches what we are looking for, we may ask a few more questions to get to know you more before the interview stage.

This step may include an invitation to complete a short quiz to get a feel for our culture and values.

Or a member of the RACQ careers team may contact you to discuss your application further. Consider this an opportunity to put a face to the name, show us why you're excited about the role, and tell us why you'd be a great fit.

Tip: Be yourself. It doesn't matter if you lose your train of thought or muddle an answer – just show us your personality.

  • icon-step-3
    Interview

If you seem like a good candidate for the role, you’ll be invited to attend a face to face or virtual interview. The interview is designed to evaluate your knowledge, skills, and experience.

When RACQ recruits for some areas (e.g. contact centre or retail stores), a group interview/assessment centre will be arranged. Group interviews usually involve taking part in group activities and meeting some key people within the RACQ team.

Tip: Remember, a group interview is still a formal interview. You need to bring your best self and wear smart business attire.

  • icon-step-4
    Online assessments

There are a few different types of online assessments you may be asked to complete, depending on the role you’re applying for. We use these to further explore your fit with our culture and assess some of the capabilities required to perform the role. Examples of common online assessments include:

    • Culture-fit quiz
    • Psychometric assessments (cognitive/abstract/numerical)
    • Skills tests
    • Individual assessments (leadership/personality/preferred working style)

Tip: When you know which type of assessments you’ll need to take, it’s a good idea to practice similar assessments online to get a feel for your strengths and weaknesses.
