RACQ CTP Insurance

Everyone must choose a Compulsory Third Party (CTP) insurer when registering their vehicle, and when you insure with RACQ, you can rest assured knowing you're in good hands. We provide Queensland-based resources to guide you through the claims process regardless of who was at fault or who has been injured. And, we're member owned, which means we support local communities across our state. So switch to RACQ, the insurer that supports Queenslanders.

What does my RACQ CTP Insurance cover?

CTP insurance covers claims made against you for personal injury or death under the CTP legislation.

While CTP protects individuals injured in a motor vehicle accident, it doesn’t cover the damage caused to or by your vehicle. To make sure your vehicle is covered, view our range of car insurance options and get a quote today.

A change to RACQ CTP Insurance policies (effective 29 July 2021)

Since 2004, we have offered an At Fault Driver benefit, which provided a one-off lump sum payment to seriously injured people who are considered at fault in a motor vehicle accident. In 2016, the Queensland state government introduced the National Injury Insurance Scheme Queensland (NIIS), which provides rehabilitation and care expenses to anyone who sustains serious personal injury due to a motor vehicle accident, regardless of who is at fault.

With the NIIS providing compensation for those seriously injured, we’ve determined that our At Fault Driver benefit no longer offers the intended value to our members. And so, from 29 July 2021 we will be removing the At Fault Driver inclusion as part of our CTP policy.

What does this mean for me?
The NIIS offers the same benefit as our At Fault Driver inclusion, so in the event of serious injury from a motor vehicle accident, you will still be able to access compensation for care and rehabilitation expenses. If you currently hold CTP insurance with us, the At Fault Driver benefit will remain in effect until your next registration renewal date.
