It takes a certain kind of look to pull off statement jewelry. In fact, one could argue that the entire outfit has to be planned around it. The opposite is true for chic, clean and easy minimalistic pieces–much like the ones Maria Black designs. The Danish native’s work has a sculptural sensibility and creates objects of desire that go with almost everything.
I’m particularly inclined to her earrings, many of which are both complex and simple at the same time. Take, for instance, the Indo convertible gold-plated earring which can be worn either as one piece (it looks like three tiny hoops on your lobe) or as two–you can detach the the central loop and wear it as a cuff.
